Champion trophy 2025 upadate

 

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to take place in Pakistan from **February 19 to March 9, 2025**, marking the return of a major ICC event to Pakistan after nearly three decades. Matches will be held at three venues: Karachi’s National Stadium, Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.


          Key Highlights: 


 1. **Teams**: 

The tournament will feature the top 8 ODI teams based on the 2023 Cricket World Cup standings: Pakistan (host), India, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.

 

 2. *Format*: 

Teams will be divided into two groups for a round-robin stage, followed by semi-finals and a final. 

 3. **India’s Participation: 

Due to political tensions, India may not travel to Pakistan. Alternatives being considered include a hybrid model where India’s matches could be held at neutral venues like the UAE or Sri Lanka.
 

4. **Preparations:

The ICC has approved Pakistan’s readiness after reviewing stadium renovations and security arrangements. A budget of approximately 12.8 billion PKR has been allocated to upgrade facilities. The event is highly anticipated, particularly for the potential clash between India and Pakistan, tentatively set for March 1 at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium.
