Delhi pollution levels news 20 November 2024

Delhi's air quality has deteriorated drastically, making it one of the most polluted cities in the world. Recently, the Air Quality Index (AQI) exceeded 1,000 in some areas, a level considered "hazardous." This is significantly higher than the World Health Organization's recommended safe limit. The smog has caused reduced visibility, disruptions in air travel, and health concerns, particularly respiratory problems.

The situation has worsened due to stagnant weather conditions, vehicular emissions, and crop stubble burning in neighboring states. Authorities have implemented emergency measures, such as restricting construction activities and imposing curbs under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). Schools have also faced pressure to close temporarily to protect children from exposure.

If you're in Delhi, it's advisable to use air purifiers indoors, wear N95 masks outdoors, and avoid prolonged exposure.
